Half of top performers looking for new jobs

New research shows many companies aren’t doing enough to keep star employees sticking around.

Almost half (47%) of top performing employees are actively looking for new jobs (browsing ads, sending resumes, going on interviews, etc.), according to a survey by Leadership IQ.

On the flip side, just 18% of low performers are doing the same, as are 25% of the employees classified as “middle performers.”

About 16,000 people were surveyed and placed into performance categories based on data about their previous performance reviews.

What’s it mean for employers? Likely that a lot of them need to put more effort into identifying top performers and focusing retention efforts accordingly.

Yes this is a must. I am one of these employees and I can tell you I am looking elsewhere. I am really tired of the end of the year that my bonus and raise are consistant with the other employees who fight, do as little as possible, miss a lot of work, complain about having to do something that they dont do everyday, all the while I am doing the work of three people, stay after work, come in early to provide an updated, accurate month. The more you do the more they expect but at the end of the year you all get the same thank you. I want paid for performance and not just because everyone is getting something when some should not be getting anything.

…sounds like you’re ready to be your own boss, Sara…

I agree. I’m also fighting back with having some job interviews in anticipation that a couple will call in for references. This will let the boss lady know other are interested. Of course when someone sees others interest in you, you become more interesting to them.

    Just a thought
